Materials of Construction for Chemical Compatibility
MTH Pumps is dedicated to providing reliable and efficient fluid handling solutions across a diverse range of industries and applications. Ensuring chemical compatibility is a crucial aspect of our design and manufacturing process. We understand that different fluids and chemicals demand specific materials of construction to maintain optimal performance, longevity, and safety.
Our pumps are available in a variety of materials to accommodate a wide spectrum of chemical fluids and corrosive environments. Here are some key materials of construction offered by MTH Pumps:
Bronze: Bronze is a widely used material for pump components due to its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in applications involving water, brine, and non-corrosive liquids. It's suitable for general fluid handling, cooling systems, and certain industrial processes.
Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is known for its exceptional corrosion resistance and durability. It's an ideal choice for handling corrosive liquids, chemicals, and high-temperature fluids. MTH offers different grades of stainless steel, such as 316SS, for enhanced chemical compatibility.
Cast Iron: Cast iron is valued for its strength and durability. It's suitable for less corrosive applications and can handle water, mild chemicals, and abrasive fluids.
Buna-N (Nitrile): Buna-N is a synthetic rubber with good resistance to oils, solvents, and fuels. It's commonly used for seals and gaskets in pumps handling hydrocarbons, petroleum-based products, and water-based fluids.
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): EPDM, also known as EPR, offers excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, and chemicals. It's used for seals, gaskets, and O-rings in pumps handling water, steam, acids, alkalis, and some solvents.
Graphite Loaded Silicon Carbide: Graphite-loaded silicon carbide provides enhanced wear resistance and lubrication. It's often used in abrasive and high-temperature applications, such as pumping abrasive slurries and corrosive chemicals.
Teflon (PTFE): PTFE-"O: Rings provide excellent chemical resistance for handling corrosive and abrasive fluids. They're often used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
Ceramics: Ceramic materials offer exceptional resistance to wear, abrasion, and corrosion, making them suitable for handling abrasive and corrosive slurries.
Choosing the right material of construction is essential to ensure reliable pump performance and longevity while maintaining compatibility with the fluids being handled. At MTH Pumps, we work closely with our customers to understand their specific requirements and recommend the most suitable materials to ensure optimal performance and chemical compatibility for their applications. Our commitment to quality and expertise in materials of construction enables us to provide reliable fluid handling solutions across a wide range of industries.
